Eligibility
All middle level and high school students who are members of an active NHS, NJHS, or NSC chapter are eligible to participate in the contest. To be considered active, chapters and councils must be current on their membership dues with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). All students who wish to make a design submission and participate in the contest must provide parental/guardian consent to these Terms of Participation when submitting your design.
Subject Matter
The design must be focused on celebrating student leadership.
Submission Deadline & Timeline
The deadline for submitting designs is April 7, 2023. All submissions must be received via the contest entry form at studentleadershipweek.org by 11:59 pm EST on the deadline date. Each student may submit no more than two entries. Three or more designs will be selected as finalists by a panel of judges designated by NASSP. Public voting to select the winner will take place, via the organizations’ NHS and NSC social media platforms, April 13–14, 2023. The winner will be announced April 24, 2023. Late entries will not be eligible.

Submission Format
Designs should be created in digital format (JPEG or PNG) and submitted via the contest entry form at studentleadershipweek.org. The design should be created in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and measure 5 inches by 5 inches (5”x5”). By entering this Contest and providing your email address you agree that NASSP may contact you directly about matters directly related to the Contest. NASSP will ask your permission before contacting you about any other matters.
Design Requirements
- The design must be the original creation of the student submitting the entry and shall not be copied or duplicated from previously published art, including photographs, clip art or electronic graphic images. Photographs or photo manipulations will not be accepted.
- Designs should adhere to the contest subject matter: celebrating student voice and leadership.
- Designs should not contain any offensive or inappropriate content, including but not limited to hate speech, violence, or drug references.
- Designs should not include any copyrighted or trademarked images or logos.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Creativity and originality of the design
- Adherence to the contest subject matter: celebrating student voice and leadership
- Overall visual appeal and aesthetic
- Any entry that fails to comply with any of the requirements of the contest shall be disqualified and will not be considered by the judging panel.
Prizes
The winning design will be selected by public voting via the organizations’ NHS and NSC social media platforms. The winning design will be printed and made available in the official NHS, NJHS, and NSC online stores. The finalists will each receive a $100 gift card. The overall winner will receive a $250 gift card and their school will receive 250 free stickers displaying the winning design. Winning applicants will be responsible for any tax implications as a result of accepting their prize.
Terms of Participation
By entering the Contest, you agree to abide by these Terms of Participation. National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) reserves the right to amend the Terms of Participation and if we do so, we will publish the amended version on this Contest on our NHS website. It is your responsibility to check regularly to make sure you are aware of the updated information. If you do not agree to any changes to these Terms of Participation, your only remedy is to withdraw from the Competition.
Representation, Warranties, Covenants, and Legal Responsibility
By entering the Competition, you represent, warrant, and covenant that: (i) you are the sole creator and owner of any material you submit as part of your application (“Materials”); (ii) distribution of the Materials does not violate any applicable laws; (iii) distribution of the Materials does not infringe any third-party proprietary and intellectual property rights, including without limitation, copyright and trademark; (iv) all Materials are free from defamatory, obscene or otherwise harmful or unlawful components; and (v) you are not bound by any obligations or conditions that conflict with your participation in the Contest. You further agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless NASSP, and each of its respective employees, officers, directors, contractors, agents and representatives, from and against any and all known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, third party claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, liens, costs and expenses, including reasonable outside attorney’s fees, arising out of your breach of any representation, warranty or covenant made as part of your participation and submission of Materials for this Contest.
Publicity
You agree that NASSP may use without compensation to you your name, voice and likeness for any purpose related to the Contest.
Miscellaneous
This Competition is void where prohibited. The Competition shall be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia. References to “NASSP” in these Terms of Participation, includes National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Honors Society, National Junior Honor Society, National Student Council and all websites operated by NASSP now or in the future. There is no purchase required to enter this contest.
